Josefa Tolrà had no academic training and only began to draw and to write down the visions dictated to her by what she called ‘light beings’ once she had turned sixty. Drawing and writing consoled her when the death of her two sons plunged her into a profound sadness and she felt her house was invaded by visions and voices that allowed her no rest.
